First generation technology launched in 1980 used analogue signal. Devices used were heavy and inconvenient to carry around. Second generation emerged in 1990s. It is based on the technology known as global system for mobile communication or GSM. Provide services like text messages, picture messages and MMS.

Features:

3g was first used in Japan in the year 2001. Almost 123 countries launched 3g and some countries are also using 4G technology. 3G technology enables the use of GPS (Global positioning system) mobile television and video conferencing with better bandwidth and speed. With this technology speed will increase ten times more than 2G technologies. Songs; videos and games will be downloaded fast.

3G Technology Introduced In Pakistan

In the world where 3G technology is used Pakistan is still rely on 2G technology, It is much slower than 3G in speed.

Pakistan’s mobile subscribers have been waiting for long time to experience high speed mobile internet on their smartphones and other 3G enabled devices. Government of Pakistan is likely to auction 3G licenses later this month. Mobile operator will face more competitive telecom market in Pakistan during 3G era. Pakistan also seeks foreign investors for 3g license auction.
