Kantar report: Android continuing global growth, in Europe

Kantar Worldpanel, the market analyst company has reported on the smartphone market consist of three months tenure ending in April. The data reveals Android as the hold big market share, the Google OS being the most adapted in Europe, China and the US, and Windows Phone and iOS had mixed performance as seen.

In the top 5 European markets – Germany, Great Britain, France, Spain and Italy Android grows from 1.7 points to control 72.4% of the smartphones. Windows Phone also doing well, gaining 1.6 points to 8.4% market share. Apple iOS’s has very slight position gaining to 17.5%.

The BlackBerry dropped 1.7 points and the other platforms that lost 1.8 points. The total share of the platforms outside of the big triangle is now 1.7% in Europe.

Android is doing very well in the US market, gaining 7.3 points and approaching to59.1% market. iOS home market is losing 6.8 points, and Microsoft’s WP moved down to 4.7%. Interestingly enough BlackBerry slightly improved to gain 1% of the market –

In China, BlackBerry completely gone out of the map of smartphone, while Android is gaining both its biggest growth in market share. The Google OS gained 7.9 points to a total of 79.8%. Microsoft is struggling in the world’s largest smartphone market. Windows Phone moved down to 1.4% of the market.

The final two countries in the report show a little different picture In Japan. iOS is leading, climbing 5.6 points, climbing to 55.4%. Windows Phone also has improvement there. BlackBerry lost in all in the country of the east, while Android moved up by 0.8 points to 43.6%.

Finally, in Australia iOS gained 2 points to close the gap to Android, which moved up to 3.3 points. The Google platform is still showing supreme in Oz, though having 60.8% market share. Windows Phone scored some progress gaining 6.7% of the market.

That’s some very interesting report indeed and we may see more next few months. Current result is showing that Android flag is now flipping strong across the globe. The question is that how good of a fight back could be attempted by iPhone 6 be.
