Microsoft Is Working To Extend The Battery Life

As we know smartphones are faster than we thought. 720p to Quad HD transition in screens in just a few years is not supposed to happen. In the race of mobile technology I think there is a still something that is not up to the mark yet: yes this is battery life. In recent years, the battery technology isn’t advanced so much and seems to not change in near future either. Considering this point, Microsoft decided to work on providing longer battery life for mobile devices and is using current technologies in an efficient way.

Longer-battery-life

Senior Researcher in the Mobility & Networking Research Group at Microsoft Research, the Ranveer Chandra, has now unveiled some of the idea that Microsoft is going to use to enhance battery life. MIT Technology Review is stating that one possibility is that you can develop devices that are using two smaller Li-Ion batteries instead that you are building single large one. One of them will power-up the power-hungry activities like gaming, streaming etc. while the other one will provide power to regular tasks, which also includes the device’s idle state. For now Microsoft is prototyping by using this idea, and using this battery life can be increased by 20 to 50 percent.

Microsoft is working out on the ways to use software optimization to increase battery life. Microsoft has prepared an “E-Loupe” software prototype that will be used to identify applications which are using a lot of power when not used like when they running in the background, and pausing or slowing down their activity.

There Some Android smartphones like Samsung’s Galaxy S5 and HTC’s One M8 are already having software tricks which is helping them to provide a longer battery life.

Microsoft yet not announced when it is available for commercial use, but hoping in near future.
